Treatments Available
Please feel free to read through the many different forms of massage available. With 30 years of experience between us, rest assured you will be in safe hands. If you are unsure about which treatment would benefit you the most then this can be discussed when booking or at the beginning of your treatment. Where appropriate, a combination of techniques and styles may be used.
Deep tissue and remedial massage
Ideal for relieving tension hot spots and areas of stiffness and pain. As the title suggests, this is deep and very specific. Great for centres of chronic tension and connective tissue, which have been causing problems over time. The aim is to solve the problem at the source, rather than just suppress the pain.
Thai Foot Massage
An intensive treatment for the whole body, but performed on the feet, so if it sounds just like a foot massage – think again. This one has aromatic creams, reflex points and deep massage to the lower legs, all incorporated into a traditional Thai treatment. It combines the ritualistic and extraordinarily relaxing elements of an oriental massage with the accuracy of reflexology. This treatment has been transported from the temples of Thailand to the Back to Balance clinic so is not to be missed!
Thai Herb Compress Massage
Be one of the first people in the UK to receive this fantastic treatment, I was convinced of the benefits after it relieved me of the many aches and pains I had after a 12 hour flight! A full body treatment combining massage with a powerful detox using compresses of herbs from Thailand. These magical muslin balls are filled with combinations of up to twenty Thai herbs, who’s benefits and efficacy have been checked for us by a medical herbalist in the UK. Not only that, but the compresses are steamed so you have the benefits of a heat treatment, massage and detox all in one!
Natural Lift Facial Massage
From the name, you could be forgiven for thinking that this is just a face massage but it is actually a sequence of massage techniques which act as a natural facelift with no need for surgery, injections or other cosmetic procedures!
We all have tension which builds up in the facial muscles and many of us would love to reduce wrinkles and have more radiant, youthful looking skin, so it is no wonder that this is a very popular treatment. If vanity is not a good enough reason to indulge, then rest assured, this treatment boosts circulation, stimulates the nervous system, improves lymphatic flow which transports bacteria and toxins away from skin cells and eases muscular tension in the head, face, neck and shoulders! By the time we’ve finished with you, you’ll look and feel better all through.
Lymphatic Drainage
The plumbing-related title lacks allure I agree, but the description is accurate. Good immunity is dependant on good lymphatic function. Simply imagine getting rid of that sluggish feeling, heavy legs, puffy skin and susceptibility to colds and all you have to do is lie there – well, do you still care what the treatment’s called? It’s a fluid specific massage using essential oils and reflex points as well as those ubiquitous meridians and it works. Classically lighter than conventional massage, but the treatment is tailored to your needs.
Reflexology
A term and treatment that has been around for many years, but for those for whom it’s new, this is a whole body treatment applied to the feet. Ideal for the body conscious, non massage lovers or the habitually cold! All our nerve endings are reflected in the feet and the treatment, which is both diagnostic as well as therapeutic, applies pressures throughout a very intensive foot massage.
Aromatherapy
A term often associated with light massage and pre-mixed oils – not here though. Our treatments are based on over a decade of teaching aromatherapy through traditional Chinese medicine and holistic Oriental massage. Following a consultation the oils are blended specifically for you and the massage is tailored to your needs.
Pre/Post Natal Massage
Fourteen years of specialising in ante and post natal care, combined with trusted and safe techniques. This massage is great for relieving muscle tension as well as aches and pains. Lymph drainage helps to clear swelling in the hands and feet and both anxiety and blood pressure can be reduced. The positioning on the couch ensures comfort and safety throughout. A specific treatment is available at full term, which has been very successful in avoiding labour being induced.
